The Mountrath Room is situated on the garden front, and enjoys pleasing views out over the curving forms of the Conservatory to the rising Pleasure Grounds and the impressive watery staircase of the Cascade. In the bedroom, above the black marble chimneypiece hangs Admiration, one of the finest surviving paintings by Richard Rothwell, who was born in the neighbouring county of Offaly. Elsewhere the room is hung with designs for Château Groussay by Alexandre Serebriakoff, a Russian émigré to Paris, many of which were inspired by Irish follies.
